A lank and dusty female stepped lightly through beech forest. she lifted her head to the sky and sniffed the air for any signs of company. She was tired from traveling so far, but she didn't even know where she was and couldn't stop unless she knew if she was in a territory of comrades or enemies. She walked on, looking for markings on the trees or scents in the air to show if this was a territory or not. So far she figured it was based on the faint scent of others and the occasional paw mark. She figured that she couldn't just wander around aimlessly forever, if she couldn't find anyone, she'd attempt to make them come to her. She sat on her haunches and lifted her muzzle to the sky, letting out a friendly howl to anyone who'd listen. She sat there and looked around, waiting for a reply but watching her back in case she was indeed not welcomed
Light brown mitts padded against the ground as a handsome young male made his way through the territory. His auds flat against his head as he sniffed the air no sign of any other wolf in the area. He was tired from his journey through lands and being run off by packs. All he really wanted to do was explore, maybe get his way with a few females. But today he was rather unlucky with the femme's and with exploring. Uttering a sigh he trudged on, his pads were sore and he needed a rest. Laying down he closed his eyes. Auds lifted off his head so he could hear if anything came near. Don't worry Fiction nobody's gonna get near you. But if they do you can rip their head off." he whispered to himself. A nasty smile spread across his maw showing his curving fangs. He opened his eyes and stood once more, when a friendly howl erupted from in the distance. Placing his rump on the ground he bent his crown back and blasted out his own howl. It didn't have the slightest bit of a friendly tone, yet it didn't sound dangerous either.
Aflia wasn't expecting to hear a reply, so when one came in the distance her auds perked and she tilted her head slightly as if differentiating this howl. She couldn't make heads or tails of it, whether it was simply acknowledgment or a warning. She stood up and paced lightly contemplating her next move. She could go see who it was and attempt a greeting or just walk away with simply knowing this was more than likely a territory. Deciding for merely a moment, she acted on instinct rather than reason. She let out another howl, this one stronger, and more deliberate, but just as equally friendly. She then began a brisk trot toward the direction of the howl. She figured any form of encounter with another wolf, good or bad, was better than none at all.
A response to his howl erupted from only a short distance away. Picking up his speed Fiction headed to wards her howl. A smirk spread across his maw and he gathered himself into a slow lope. The slight breeze whipped his fur away from his face as he continued on. Thoughts wandered aimlessly through Fictions head as he neared the female. Why was she alone? What is she doing out here? His questions may never be answered until he got close enough to talk to her. A few moments later he stopped as the figure of the female neared him. Fiction's smirk had widened and he stopped in front of her. "Hello there," his smirk turning a bit devilish. "May I ask why you are out here alone?"
Aflia nearly skidded to a stop as the male appeared in front of her, feeling foolish at her fumbling, she took a minute to compose herself. Standing tall, with her auds perked but with a wary eye for any tricks this one could pull. She responded with a hint of defiance. I hope you're aware that i could ask the same of you... She did wonder the same of him. He didn't seem the type to have an interest in a pack, so why would he even bother with her? What was the motive? She stood rigid as she waited for retort.
