Stars over my head and friends by my side.
« Thread Started on Feb 17, 2009, 12:40am »

Countless stars glittered in the sky above the heads of the three wolves as they crossed the border into the Hunting Plain, the long strip of land that stretched all the way from the southern grasslands to the heathlands in the north of the valley. The half-moon shone brightly as well, washing the landscape with a silver tint. A warm breeze blew through the grasses, making them sway gently, and far off in the west a flash of lightning lit up the sky, followed many seconds later by a rumble of thunder.

The three wolves had spent half a day crossing the Barran Wastes territory in search of water, then had outrun a violent storm. Now they had come to hunt.

It was just after dusk, when the sun had long since sunk below the mountaintops and all trace of light had faded from the opposite horizon. It was a time when the deer would be out browsing, and perhaps a few fawns would accompany any does.

Vice hoped the hunting would be easy, for he was starved. Having run since noon, he was also exhausted. He refused to chase after fleet-footed rabbits for any distance, or fight a healthy buck. After all, his pack only consisted of three so far-- he, Silver and Senka-- and he doubted a scrap with an eight-point buck would turn out well for any of them.

The male sighed as he slowed to a stop in the middle of the prairie to rest.

Sapphire orbs gazed up at the countless stars above. She loved to travel at night just because of how the sky looked when dusk hit. They had spent almost the whole day traveling, part of it getting to the watering hole and another part outrunning the storm which could now be seen far off. The lightning striking through the sky was beautiful, yet she knew how dangerous it would have been for them to have stayed there right below the storm. Her ears turned toward the noise that the thunder made.

At the moment Ragnarok was at ease, despite worries about the future. Ragnarok slowed as Vice did, she was tired yet could run for a long while still. The run had upset her stomach at first because of being full with water but after running for so long her body had used up quite a bit of her reserve.

Sapphire orbs took in everything around her before turning to look at Vice. Although she did not want to admit a weakness, or better yet something not yet learned, she knew it would be unwise and unsafe for the other two if she did not speak.

Sapphire orbs were guarded as she began to speak. "I have never hunted with another before... All of my hunting has been on my own, except... I think, when I was younger and just learning to hunt." Ragnarok admitted, her tone neutral. She turned to look out onto the plains again. Her ears perked forward and head held high, she would learn to hunt as a unit and she would learn it fast to better help her pack.

The entire journey, Senka had not said one single word to anyone. Instead she had just ran. Ran her heart out really, to get away from that storm. But they had managed it seemed, considering they were now all here in the hunting plains, which held plenty of food. Maybe even a few to many choices to choose from. There were deer, rabbits, fowl, fish, rodents… the list went on. But honestly, Senka needed to wrest her paws before she did any hunting.

Now that they had left the storm in the dust, Senka was more relaxed. And even this peaceful place comforted her. Though it wouldn’t be comfortable when the three wolves wreaked havoc on some poor unsuspecting prey. But that could wait.

Senka wandered over to where Vice was and stood a few feet behind him, peering around at her surroundings. Off in the distance she could see a small herd of dear grazing. But she had to shove the thought of food from her mind at the moment. So she shook her head and sat down, lifting one of her soar front paws to relieve pressure from it. But she wasn’t complaining. Senka was a tough wolf and a little soreness wasn’t going to faze her much.

"I have never hunted with another before... All of my hunting has been on my own, except... I think, when I was younger and just learning to hunt."

Senka’s green eyes wandered over to Silver as she listened to her speak. Once the other was done confessing, Senka shrugged. “Eh. Neither have I. Except for once when I was hunting I was being trailed by an annoying parrot…” her voice trailed off as she said this. That had been months ago and the parrot had not helped her hunt at all. But it had been there so she guessed it counted a little.

Vice too was more relaxed than usual. This still, quiet darkness made the male feel warm somehow, and in an enclosed space...perhaps like a den would be. This made sense, seeing as a den was comforting, but why his surroundings made him think of this now made no sense whatsoever. But the white wolf decided not to think about it now-- there were more pressing matters, like locating food, which would be the easy part, and then killing it, which was something to worry about. Vice had heard of may wolves being seriously injured and even killed while hunting strong prey, and he had even known one or two in his past. A deer would be best-- a young fawn or an injured doe, or maybe even both. If they could kill a doe they could justify themselves in killing her fawn too-- it would not survive without a mother.

Vice shook his head to clear it of these thoughts: Why should he worry about being justified in the hunting of a fawn, if it would benefit him and his pack?

Aware of Senka sitting behind him and Silver nearby as well, he listened to their confessions. He was surprised-- usually wolves were brought up in packs, and packs hunted together all the time. Vice himself had hunted with his old pack more than once before leaving them...but he had never lead the hunt. He had a;ways followed the alpha's orders-- herded the prey toward the rest of the pack when told, attacking when told, retreating when told....It had been a simple life, but he did not miss it.

Now it was Vice's turn to be in the alpha position. Tonight he would be giving the orders...He wondered if Silver and Senka would follow them as willingly as they had followed him out of his old territory.

He had been surprised when Senka had not deserted the two white wolves as soon as they had entered the forest south of the Barran Wastes. He had thought she might be using them just to get out that desolate place, but apparently not.

He shook his head once more, bringing himself back to the present, and realized that he had not said anything on the subject of hunting experience yet. "I have hunted with a pack before," he told them, "but never with so small a group. We shall have to be careful not to be harmed." His ice-blue eyes glittered in the starlight as he waited for a response.

((Let's wait until we get a mod to post any further.))

It had been a while before he'd seen another wolf. From the final days of Kerberos' reign to that very moment, he had been only in his own company. It was strange to see others now, after he had begun to think he was the last soul on earth, though that too was strange. For a moment he hesitated in even going forward. Were they just illusions? Thoughts and memories projected from his mind onto the earth? No...that was silly. They must have been there--all of them--all along, just never having crossed his path. Life could not spring from nothing, and so it seemed that for those weeks after the fall of Kerberos the rest of the mountain came back out of the woodwork and only he seemed to be alone still. What interesting irony.

It crossed his mind to go quietly and leave the wolves to go about their business as though he was never even there, but he just couldn't let himself do that. While it was nice to be alone, it was nicer not to be alone. This he knew from past experience--for him to try and run away from the world would just bring greater anxiety in the realization that he needed the world. Even an encounter leading to a bloody fight would be less lonely than not having one at all. That was cruel. The world was cruel like that.

And so, he emerged. Not threatening, not submitting, he came down from the small hill on which he had rested. The rabbit in his jaws, his own reward and the reason he had come down to the plains in the first place, swung in his jaws, lifeless. He hadn't begun to eat it yet, and worried whether it would seem like an offering to the white male, who was clearly leader of the tiny group. It wasn't. While it didn't seem like it hanging limo in his jaws, in life the rabbit was an agile devil who'd almost caused him a broken leg when he'd tripped over a rock in its pursuit, so he would at least have the pleasure of devouring it himself.

As he stood there among the three, words failed him for a moment. Had he forgotten how to speak to his own kind? Apparently not, "I havn't seen too many others around recently." he wasn't about to tell a long story about himself, so he hoped they didn't expect it, "I'm Kyo." Well, that was about a simple an introduction as was required. He looked at them expectantly--it was their turn now.

.::A small herd of deer graze about a half a mile away. A bit hard to make out in the darkness, but from the looks of it there are some does grazing with their fawns. The antlers of the buck standing patrol are menacing, but the herd is the only food in sight.::.

Vice was watching the small herd of deer in the distance, looking for any sign of weakness. They were too far away and it was too soon to tell. They would have to trigger a stampede in order to pick out the weak or crippled ones, who would not be able to run as fast.

So focused on the deer was the male that he did not notice the huge, strange-looking black-and-red wolf approach. This was one of Vice's many flaws: For some reason he could only concentrate on one thing at a time. It had nearly cost him Silver's respect back in the Barran Wastes, but he had used his wits and gotten out of that situation before injuries to body or pride could result. He had decided for the moment that the risk of attack from the silver female had passed.

When out of the corner of his eye he saw a flash of red, his head automatically whipped around; his eyes shed their thoughtful look in exchange for a hostile, defensive one. It was nighttime in a place that all types of wolves were attracted to-- danger was higher here than anywhere else.

But what he saw on the red-and-black wolf's red-hued face compensated for its menacing, powerful look. Its expression was one of friendliness-- or, at least as friendly as Vice had seen recently. And from this wolf's jaws swung like a pendulum the brown body of a rabbit, looking smaller than it would usually since the life had left it. Could this perhaps be...an offering? A compensation for intruding on his peaceful night?

But the wolf set the prey down without offering it to any of the pack, so Vice dismissed this idea, instead listening intently to the wolf's words white not making a sound himself. His eyes were narrowed suspiciously; what would a wolf like this gain from any contact with he or his pack? Well, he would see soon enough. Patience was one of vice's virtues, and he held it close.

"My name is Vice," the male replied quietly in response, "And this is my pack. He did not look away from the brute as he made a small gesture behind him to where Silver and Senka sat.

Sapphire orbs stared out onto the plain, watching the herd of deer in the distance. Ragnarok could understand the concept of a pack hunt. They must work together if they wished to get a meal tonight and without harming themselves in the process. An ache in her belly told of her hunger yet she did not let that hunger control her body. She would listen to what Vice had to say and follow his orders, she was hungry yet not hungry enough to get herself knocked senseless by trying to take a deer herself.

Ragnarok's mind wandered to thoughts of prey and how good it would feel to be full. Her ears twitched slightly at the sound of another, she licked her maw as a scent of blood reached her nose. Turning her head she saw another wolf approach the pack with a rabbit in his maw. Ragnarok felt a moment of fear, sapphire orbs widened slightly, thinking 'he' had found her. She realized a second later that it was a different wolf, his large build reminded her of the one from her past. The wolf seemed powerful by his build, yet his body language portrayed no hostility.

Her expression became guarded when she saw Vice's reaction to the newcomer. Ears perked forward, sapphire orbs intent on the male who introduced himself as Kyo. As Vice introduced himself and gestured to Senka and her, Ragnarok wondered slightly if they too were required to introduce themselves.

Ragnarok mentally sighed, it seemed catching their prey would have to wait. "Silver" Ragnarok stated, introducing herself, sapphire orbs unwavering. She wondered what this wolf wanted, it seemed by his healthy and powerful appearance that he did not need a pack. Was he than just looking for the companionship, as she had been? Patience... She reminded herself as she waited to see what would happen next.

When Senka saw the new wolf approaching, her hackles raised. What the heck did this wolf want? She felt like he was intruding and wanted to snarl and snap at him, but didn’t think that would be best so she didn’t. Instead she just resorted to glaring at him. And besides, she wasn’t the leader here. Maybe it would be best to let Vice deal with this stranger.

"I havn't seen too many others around recently."
"I'm Kyo."

The new male’s words just went in one ear and out the other. She was to distracted by the rabbit she had just noticed he had. Food was the only thing running through her mind at the moment. Just one quick movement and she could snatch it from his jaws… Ok ok so that would not be a smart move. But the rabbit just looked so… tasty and Senka found herself drooling just slightly.

When she heard Silver and Vice introduce themselves to the newcomer, the thoughts of food wavered. Why were they being so friendly to him? He could attack them! But then she noticed that his body language told her otherwise. His approach had been a friendly one, she noted. And she figured that if Vice, who was obviously much wiser than her, was not threatened by the large brute, then she shouldn’t be either. So she sighed and relaxed a bit. “The name is Senka” she mumbled, almost inaudible.

Honestly, she was slightly intimidated by the larger wolf. Her ears were pinned against her head and her green eyes narrowed. She felt the need to stare him down, as if to try and intimidate him, which probably wasn't working at all. But it was fun to try.

"Your...pack?" he looked harder at the male, searching for a sign that they may have crossed paths before. "Vice...Silver...Senka..." The names didn't ring any bells...and he was pretty sure he'd seen none of them before, "A fine pack you are. I havn't heard of any of you." it came out sounding a bit more rude than he had intended...or did it? Kyo pondered it for a moment--perhaps he had meant to be that rude. 'No...' he finally decided, 'I need to get out more...'

Noticing the one female eying his kill hungrily, he took a small step back, lay down, and scooped it towards himself with one paw. "Maybe next time." he said, almost smiling as he licked the rabbit's scruff. "What I meant before was, I havn't heard of you, so you must be either the whole of a new pack, or part of an existing one." he looked at Vice and frowned slightly, "You don't seem to me the type who would be able to take down any of the current alphas." rude again...he really did need to socialize more. He didn't feel particularly sorry, but felt it best to not annoy the three wolves standing over him. 'In a three-on-one...' he thought, 'I may just lose my rabbit.'

"I suppose what I'm trying to say here is--who are you? I know now your name is Vice, of course, but what and where do you operate? I havn't seen another wolf ever since the fighting died down, so I'm a little behind on the times."

The black and red male looked out to the deer herd on the horizon. He was never any good at catching deer...good thing it wasn't technically his problem. Although these wolves intrigued him. Clearly they were evils, not even a pup could mistake them for anything else, but what kind of evil were they? He was curious. Fascinated. Were they the kind of evil who snarled and foamed at the mouth? The kind that killed and tortured just for the fun of it? The kind who would fight until the last drop of blood dripped from their bodies for the most minor offense? Or could they be another kind...could there be another kind at all? Maybe, but Kyo wasn't so sure.

((Sorry guys-- I just realized that I posted out of turn...again...My bad. ^^*))

Vice listened, one ear tilted forward toward his pack mates and another toward Kyo as formal introductions took place. The white wolf's eyes narrowed slightly at the obvious confusion on the red face before him, and Vice readied himself for an explanation for this expression. What he heard almost made him laugh out loud. A fine pack you are, he had said with a hint of arrogance in his tone. I haven't heard of any of you.

'That can be easily explained," Vice answered, eyes still narrowed and the momentary gleam of humor gone. "You see," he said, standing up and starting to pace around Kyo slowly, then turning to Silver to nod in acknowledgment, "we are a newly formed pack." He turned to Silver and nodded in acknowledgment. "We are all in it to learn something-- at least, I'm in it to learn focus. I don't know what the others are seeking." He sat down and looked thoughtfully from the small brown wolf to the silver wolf who was almost a mirror image of himself. He turned back to face Kyo, realizing that he had probably made the most pointless speech of his life.

Vice listened again to what Kyo had to say, waiting for an apology. What he got was an explanation. Sighing exasperatedly, Vice continued to speak. "We have no 'base of operations.' We all met in the Barran Wastes Territory, but the climate there is to harsh..."

The white wolf had no idea what Ky meant by 'the fighting,' which he had obviously arrived in the Valley after, but he decided not to say anything...again. This was, after all, an outsider who could not be trusted with the knowledge of any weakness of the pack-- for all Vice knew, this fighting the wolf spoke of could affect the future of he and his pack in a bad way, and he did not want to let that happen by the fault of any loose lips on his part.

((Sorry again, this time for not having a muse.))

((Its all good...^^ ))

Sapphire orbs narrowed slightly as Kyo made his speech. Either he was truly trying to be rude, was trying to look for a weakness within the pack, or did not know that his inclinations were insulting the pack.

As Vice stood up and began a slow circle around Kyo, Ragnarok stood up as well but remained where she was. Sapphire orbs met ice blue ones as Vice turned to her, she nodded back in agreement. Her gaze returned to Kyo. As Vice sat back down, she remained silent, not wanting to speak of what she was seeking nor of how she felt.

Ragnarok was slightly confused as Kyo mentioned fighting, though she did not show it. Instead of worrying about what the strange wolf was talking about, she gazed out to look upon the herd of deer. Since Kyo had laid down and now had his prize between his paws she was not expecting him to attack and if he happened to there was three to one, not good odds for any wolf.

As Vice remained quiet, sapphire orbs turned to look upon Kyo again. She was hungry and she was sure the others were as well. "If you are looking for information on other packs we cannot help you. And as Vice has said we are a newly formed pack which, I am sure, is why you have not heard of us."

Ragnarok paused a moment, wondering if she was over stepping her bounds but continued anyways. "We have traveled a long ways and wish to hunt. Seeing as you have secured your meal for the night, anything else you wish to discuss with my alpha and this pack can surely wait until after we have secured ours."

Sapphire orbs remained on Kyo for a moment before turning to Vice for his decision on the matter. She admitted to herself, the dead rabbit was only making her hunger more pronounced. Ragnarok wanted to be hunting not talking with the scent of blood in the air. Unless this wolf wished to join their pack and that was why he was asking so many questions.

As the others talked between one another, Senka’s thoughts and attention drifted. She honestly had no interest in any of them right now. All she had wanted was that damn rabbit that the black and red brute had, yet he had made it perfectly clear by pulling it closer to him, that he was not interested in sharing it. Ugh. Fine. If I catch something I won’t share it with him either she thought and looked away from everyone and out at the plains.

She spotted that herd again. Those walking peaces of meat known as dear were just making her hungrier. By now her stomach had began to rumble just slightly. At first she thought it was the distant thunder of the storm she and the other two had left behind. But was soon aware that it was her stomach. How embarrassing

But, she managed to ignore that and moved over to a good sized rock that was sticking out of the ground. The brown female jumped onto the top of it, which wasn’t hard considering it was only about two feet off the ground. But even though it provided hardly any elevation, it still made it slightly easier to see farther and better.

Her eyes were locked on the dear herd, examining each individual carefully and searching for any weak signs. But they all looked rather healthy. Yet even a healthy fawn wouldn’t stand a chance against three, or maybe four, hungry wolves. Of course, one fawn would hardly be enough to feed them all. Or maybe they could manage to bring down a doe and her fawn. If they got lucky, that is.

Senka’s eyes wandered back over to the group of wolves as they discussed things. Ugh. Why must they take so long? She thought, her eyes narrowed. She was growing impatient by now. While they had been talking amongst each other, she had been planning out how they could possibly take down a good meal, and which individual they would get. She wanted to prove to them that she may have been younger than them and a little naive, yet wasn’t completely dumb and useless. Maybe, if they got to hunting, she could show them. If everything worked out right.

"Barren Wastes territory..." his ears perked forward, "Tell me this, was that territory occupied by another pack which you broke off of, or was it empty from the start?" Kyo stood, making eye contact with Vice...Barren Wastes was where Frigid Plague was supposed to be, he was sure of it. Sumati had voiced her worries over an over about that place, so much that he'd had a ringing in his ears for weeks. It was unmistakable that that was where Frigid Plague established itself, and yet this wolf claimed to be alpha of a pack from there? There were many possibilities, but Kyo just wanted to make sure.

It dawned on him that his question would seem like prying. He scolded himself mentally for it, he was acting suspiciously. "Sorry." he said finally, picking up his rabbit once more and trotting over to a large rock a bit away from the wolves, "But after everyone got scrambled up, in the Kerberos aftermath and all, it would be nice to know the possible whereabouts of one's family members." it was a weird feeling, to be talking and saying so much. There was no need when he was alone, so he never vocalized any of his thoughts. Hearing his own voice made him almost...uncomfortable. Like meeting an old friend after a long separation and then being unable to think of anything to say. 'Awkward,' he thought, 'That's what it is.'

Vice narrowed his eyes warily at Kyo's question, wondering if he should disclose the information being asked....He decided, why not? The Barran Wastes were in the past, as was Escor...the past did not affect the future if you simply accepted it and moved on.

"I used to belong to the Escor pack, the owners of the Barran Wastes. I was the beta. But our alpha declared war on Frigid Plague, and several members, including the alpha, disappeared, and I decided it was time to move on. I wanted to start a pack of my own. That's when I found Silver and Senka, and they accepted my offer to join me."

"No need to apologize," he replied to the black-and-red wolf's words. He was thoroughly confused by this Kerberos stuff Kyo was talking about. Apparently mass mayhem had accompanied Kerberos-- Vice assumed it was a name of something-- but the white male had not been living in the Valley to be directly affected by that.

Sapphire orbs watched as Kyo apologized, got up, and moved a bit away. She had not meant to be rude, well maybe she had because of her hunger. As Vice began to answer Kyo's question Ragnarok listened, he had not said anything about war on another pack nor of most of the pack missing. She decided it did not matter it was in the past, she was part of a pack and they were not warring against anyone at the moment.

She turned her gaze upon Kyo thinking of his last words. It sounded like a big war had been waged when he said aftermath. Something or someone was the center of it. She had not been in the valley long enough to hear anything about it.

Ragnarok turned to look at Senka, she watched her spot the deer looking for weaknesses. They should be hunting. She knew Senka was getting impatient, Ragnarok knew how she felt. She wanted to excuse herself and go stand next to Senka and watch the deer but instead she turned her sapphire orbs back to Kyo. She straightened, head held high, her expression guarded as she put the hunt to the back of her mind, ignoring her hunger.

She could not excuse herself, that would leave Vice unprotected and Kyo was large enough to possibly win. No matter if Kyo seemed friendly and was now laying down slightly further away. She had learned to distrust, to never let her guard down, and that wolves have two faces. They could act as your friend one minute, only to turn your back and have them lunging at your throat.

She had put her input in and it was ignored. Ragnarok shrugged it off, sapphire orbs alert and unwavering, listening and smelling for anyone else that might be near by while still watching Kyo.

Senka began to think that that new wolf… whats his name, asked too many questions for his own good. She would of liked nothing more than to swat him over the head to shut him up. But she didn’t, knowing that would just cause a fight. And right now, she was to hungry for a fight. And not to mention she still thought everyone was taking way to long. Did they not care about their empty bellies?

She sighed and laid down on the rock she was on, her paws hanging over the slight edge of it. The brown female stared into the distance and at the storm they had left behind. She was honestly happy that she was here, not there in the thunderous chaos of it all. Yet, that still would have been more fun than laying here, waiting for her ‘superiors’ to finish up their chit chat.

Senka shivered slightly when she felt a cold breeze blow by, coming from the direction of the storm. Her eyes narrowed and she tucked her tail next to her and rested her head on her paws, hoping that the storm was not blowing in this direction as well.

But, her attention soon wavered and she found herself looking off into the distant woods. They were so dark and mysterious that she actually wanted to run off and go explore them. But, she knew she couldn’t. Her duty was here, no matter how much here sucked right now. Grow up she told herself this is no time to play. Senka knew she really did need to mature a little. She still acted like some spoiled and moody pup sometimes, and honestly she was getting sick of herself.

Vice cut in, sensing impatience and frustration from his pack members. "It was a nice chat," he said standing up, "But we really should be hunting." He made a swishing motion with his tail to gather the females around him, hoping they would obey. If they did not it would look like a weakness. "Senka," he said, turning his head to look at the dark brown wolf, but still keeping one small ear tilted toward Kyo in case he showed signs of aggression, "you've had time to study every deer in that herd. Have you spotted any injuries or impediments that would work in advantage for us? Wounded or sick fawns in particular. A juvenile might not feed all of us, but a doe would be reluctant to leave her young, especially if it had little chance of surviving an attack from us, and might give us a chance to catch her as well." Vice turned his head away from Senka and watched the herd while he wait for the answer he wanted. Vice's night vision fell short of fantastic, but he was still able to pick out a few fawns on the edge of the mass of bodies. They stayed near their mothers' flanks, occasionally nursing while the does browsed. Slightly apart from the herd was a huge buck with formidable-looking antlers. Any one of them could be severely injured by those antlers or the many pounding hooves. Does could inflict wounds as well as bucks; an incautious wolf could easily be caught beneath a stampede and trampled to death.

(Since the question was directed at Senka, I guess I will go again)

"Senka,"

Senka had not been expecting to be spoken to. After all, it was clear she was the subordinate of the small group. Not that that pleased her. She wanted a high rank. Yet didn’t complain. She would prove herself. She had to. Senka knew she had it in her to be great. But at the moment, she had to pretty much submit to everything and answer every question that Vice asked her. Joy.
So she turned her head and looked at him, unblinking and waiting for whatever it is he bloody wanted.

"you've had time to study every deer in that herd. Have you spotted any injuries or impediments that would work in advantage for us? Wounded or sick fawns in particular. A juvenile might not feed all of us, but a doe would be reluctant to leave her young, especially if it had little chance of surviving an attack from us, and might give us a chance to catch her as well."

Gee thanks for pointing out the obvious she thought. But she kept her thoughts to herself and stood up, still perched on her rock, which made her feel a little more powerful. And the fact that Vice was now looking to her for advice and ideas made her feel less sorry for herself. “Actually” she said as she looked back at the herd, which had slowly moved off to the right a little. “One of the does has a limp in her step. At first glance its not obvious, but if you watch her for a little bit, you will see it” Senka told him, feeling rather smug. “I think she would be the easiest target. And she seems to stay at the edge of the herd usually so it should be simple to flush her out” she told him, watching the doe that had strayed about fifteen feet from the herd and nodding to it so Vice knew which one she was talking about.

Ragnarok had remained remotely close to Vice throughout the entire conversation with Kyo. A pack united, right? She thought to herself. She never really held loyalty to anyone but herself throughout her whole life, yet she was good at following orders... Well to a point. And she held amazing patience and focused well when it concerned a possibility of a fight. Kyo, an unknown wolf, had approached the pack she know resided in. He was a possible threat, as his intentions were not totally known, so her attention was focused on him despite her hunger. And if Vice is attacked, than ultimately she is attacked? The pack meaning all is one and one is all... Right?

Ragnarok inwardly sighed. Her feelings complicated, and despite all of this her expression remained guarded. Sapphire orbs remained on Kyo despite Vice having turned to talk to Senka. She would be his eyes. The talk of hunting lifted her spirits. As Senka gave her assessment on the herd, Ragnarok's silver ears perked forward.

They would be hunting soon, on the plain snapping at the legs of the deer within the herd. Ragnarok could almost hear within her mind the sound of the many hooves stampeding away from the pack, and taste the fear in the air. Sapphire orbs narrowed slightly as she caught her mind wandering and refocused.
