Gyllbane trudged her way through the chest-deep snow, grumbling at how cold the weather had become. The hills were white with the freshly fallen powder, dry and fluffy - and also extremely cold. Winter had settled in uncomfortably over the valley again, and the wolf remembered her first winter back in the valley under the Mountain. V. She'd met him, and another wolf - she couldn't recall his name, it had to begin with a N or an O or something, at Kai Lake. She recalled being somewhat emaciated, but V had generously offered to stay with her for the winter. They'd stayed together until late spring, when, for one reason or another, they went their seperate ways - Gyll to find her old packmates, and him... well, she didn't know exactly what he left to do. Whatever it was, though, she hoped he was happy. She had liked him - maybe a bit too much for her own good, but she doubted she'd be able to find him now, in the dead of winter. She hadn't had company in ages, though, and she was beginning to become restless. Wolves in the Valley were still hard to come by, though she allotted some of this absence to the fact that she didn't move her location at all, preferring to hole out in her den for the winter rather than risk frostbite by sleeping out in the open. Only the occisional trip to the Hunting Plains for some small prey, enough to keep her healthy enough living on her own, though she longed for company. "Maybe today'll be my lucky day... maybe today someone will come along and break this constant boredom." She spoke this aloud, to no one in particular, convinced as she was of her solitude in the sprawling cryustalline white hills. The horizon blurred against the monotonous gray sky, and the wind blew the few surviving sedges down flat against the bluffs. The golden wolf made her way up one of the rolling hills, then down it, to a small opening in the side of one of the white uphevals. She crawled her way inside, turned a few circles, scratched at the ground a few times, but then decided she was too hungry to sleep and crawled back out again to try to look for a stray hare or squirrel or grouse. Scanning the horizon once more, she made out a few figures, none of them looking anything like prey. Heaving a sigh, she sat squarely on the top of the hill her makeshift den was built under, and waited for something - or someone - to appear.
