Knox’s eyes narrowed when he heard something just ahead of him. It was a rustling sound. The tall grass that surrounded him concealed the prey, but he knew it was there. He could here its footfalls, its breathing, and the light snorts. It was the boar. He just had to get to it without it hearing him. Yet he still could not see the boar.

He took a few steps forward and amazingly, the tall grass gave way to shorter grass that looked as if it had been burned recently. There was only a short, bright green sprouts growing here, and the boar he had been searching for was grazing on the lush new growth.

A sly smile came to his face and he crouched down, eyes locked on his target which was still oblivious to the white male’s presence. Knox took a few steps forward, making sure to keep as silent as he could. And then he charged forward. The boar let out a startled squeal and took off, but Knox did not stop. A little chase wouldn’t hurt anything… except the boar. And even though he was not able to run as fast as some, Knox easily kept up with his prey.

And luck was on his side today, because as the boar jumped to clear a fallen and burnt log, its hoof clipped it and it stumbled to the ground. But as it tried to get up, Knox was already on top of it, sinking his teeth into the fat neck of the creature as it squealed and kicked out, giving Knox a few kicks to the chest as its life was fading away. But Knox ignored the kicks and just sank his sharp teeth deeper until the thing was finally silent and dead.

As she could sense she was getting closer and closer with each step, the sound of a hog squealing caught her ears. Her head rose quickly, ears flicking forward, Please don't tell me Knox is going after a boar! Freaking out she ran, only to have a sharp pain run down her spin, she growled it off ignoring that she was in pain. From her past she knew boars were tough to hunt, and they attack back. She was almost killed by a boar once, but luckily she out ran the stupid thing. To know Knox was taking one on her own freaked her out.

Coming up along his side, she slowed down in shock, "You took down a Boar!?" She could not believe her eyes as she trotted up along him, her scab on her larger cuts cracked open and were now bleeding. She ignored it as she looked at Knox in disbelieve, and judging by the boar she was just seconds late for the dead of the thing. A very fresh kill if she should say so herself. Sitting down she awaited permission to eat. It was his kill after all, and to just step up and begin eating would be down right rude.

He looked over at Sahara and smiled. "Only a small one. I think its a yearling" he said and looked at the boar, then back at Sahara. "No way I would of been able to take down a full grown!" he said, shaking his head. He would of been stupid to attack a full grown giant pig thing. And even he was smart enough to know not to. Even the yearling one he had just killed had given him a few good kicks to the chest.

When he noticed Sahara seemed to be waiting for something, he tilted his head to the side. "You... can eat" he said, figuring thats what she was waiting to hear. "I killed it for you, so you can eat first" he smiled at her and sat his rump to the ground, wagging his tail back and forth. Knox felt so proud of himself a the moment, even if his chest hurt. Thats going to bruise he thought. He seemed to be getting kicked a lot lately.

Getting a better look of the prey, she could see he was right. It was only an adolescent if that. Walking up to it once he said it was okay she sniffed at where his fangs had sunk it, the blood still really warm. Her tongue lashed out licking at the sweet tasting blood, that was all she needed to really start ripping away at the flesh.

The ebony female tore into the boar, and within minutes she had got to the organs. Her favorite part of the animal. She was fine if Knox dug in when she did, she liked dining with others, just as long as they did not get in her way or take what she had. She had never had pig and she found it seemed naturally salty tasting. So once she was done, she licked at her muzzle and paws, "I am going to go back and get something to drink.." She smiled at the ivory male before her before making her way to the springs.

Knox patiently watched as Sahara dug into the boar greedily. He actually felt laughing at how hungry she seemed. But he kept his mouth shut and just watched. He didn’t mind that she took the good parts, for he would just as happily settle for the leftovers if it made Sahara happy.

~~"I am going to go back and get something to drink.."~~

He smiled and nodded and began eating as she walked away. Within a few minutes his stomach was full and his white coat was stained red around his face and on his chest. Oh well, he could clean that off once he got to the springs. So he began trotting back towards the springs, following the path Sahara had took a few minutes before. He began to wonder what their future journeys would bring. They couldn’t stay in Alderwolf Springs forever. Then he realized something. In the past two days or so, he had not once snapped at her. This surprised him, though it also made him happy. He had hated when he snapped at everyone. But since the day he had met Sahara, his bad moments had been fewer and far between. Perhaps Sahara was his cure?

Knox arrived at the springs after a few minutes, and immediately went to the water’s edge and dived in, washing off the blood that had dried on his coat. After that he swam back to land and shook out his wet fur, making water drops fly in all directions.

She had came to the water's edge and dipped down to take a drink and that was when she heard Knox coming up from behind. He went into the spring cleaning his ivory fur off, and when he did that she suddenly, saw a drip from her shoulder splash into the water. It was blood. Her eyes glanced at her shoulder and she saw was bleeding again. Taking a seat she licked at it the best she could. Suddenly, she got sprayed by water and her eyes glanced over to him wincing.

"Hey!" she laughs looking over at him as she shakes herself slightly off.

Knox laughed and just shook even more to annoy her. But then he stopped when he saw the shimmer of blood on her shoulders. His eyes went from amused, to frightened as he rushed right to her side, staring at her bleeding wound. “Crap! Are you ok? Ugh we need to find some healing wolf or something” he said, licking away the blood on her shoulder.

Again, the guilt of this being his fault weighed on his own shoulders. He sighed and stared at the ground, still ashamed of himself for putting Sahara in danger in the first place. Of course, if she had not been injured and almost died, he would of never realized how much he actually cared about her. So maybe there was a silver lining for everything.

She giggled with him, then suddenly he looked worried. But within minutes she could see why as he rushed over to her and licked at her shoulder stating that they need to see a white wolf. Sahara laughed lightly, amused with his worry. Just as she was about to speak he looked sad, "Knox..."

She came up to him, taking a step forward nuzzling her head beneath his, "...you know...I have been through worse damage..." The ebony wolf spoke with an honest and soft voice making sure to not upset him with her words. It was true though, her mom had her closer to death than any should ever be, but, it happened and there was no way to change that.

His heart filled with butterflies when she said his name, and Knox began to wonder why and how he had managed to fall in love with someone so quickly. Before, he had thought that love didnt exist, or that it was disaster. But now he loved to love. If that made any sense. Ugh he was now confusing himself.
When Sahara came up and nuzzled, him, he managed to smile and licked the top of her head before nuzzling her neck.

~~"...you know...I have been through worse damage..."~~

"That doesn't make it ok that you are hurt though. I want you to see someone who can heal you... do it for me? To stop my worry?" he said as he took a step back from her and stared into her beautiful blue eyes in a pleading manor, now silently begging her to do as he had suggested.

She felt the feelings that radiated from him the moment her body came in contact with him. It was almost scary to her, yet, she could not help but love the emotions that bubbled inside her. Suddenly, he withdrew from her. She put her ears back and looked away, when he said what he had. Looking at her wounds she looked back at him, it was unnecessary. Her ears flicked forward, "I will....for you..."

She was not about to argue with him...whatever his title was to her now. Turning away Sahara was doing as she was told, going to white wolf mountain, a truly unnecessary thing, but...whatever. She turned back to look to Knox, "Coming?" She smiled wagging her tail, her bright blue eyes shining at him.

He smiled, happy that she was finally agreeing to go see someone who could actually help her. He had done nothing for her wounds, except lick them clean. But that was it. There was nothing else he could do, because he was a powerless wolf, with no special abilities. The thought of not being able to help Sahara himself made him just hate himself a little more.

~~"Coming?"~~

Knox shoved the thoughts to the back of his head and nodded at her, slowly following behind her. Hopefully they would be able to find the white wolf and hopefully Sahara would be healed. Knox was not sure if he could stand to panic again because he was afraid she would die. Ok ok. So Sahara's claw marks were not as bad as they had looked a couple days ago, but he always had rising panic attacks every time the slightest thing happened to her. Perhaps that was the price for love; always worrying.
